Speaker: Mike Rink, Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager's role at Comalatech is straightforward - take our amazing products and make sure the market knows about them. Mike utilizes over a decade of marketing experience to spread our message far and wide, and the fact you're reading this is probably a sign that he's doing his job. Outside of work Mike is kept busy by his wife and three kids, helping around the house and coaching two soccer teams. In the summer you'll find him roaming the wilds of British Columbia searching for old ghost towns; no Pedro Páramo sightings yet.

Collaborate Without Losing Control of Confluence

Thousands of teams around the world have discovered how Atlassian Confluence allows them to collaborate seamlessly on documentation. However, an unintended side effect of its collaborative power is that Confluence instances can soon grow wild, and users begin to have trouble finding accurate information. How can your team harness the power of Confluence without losing control it? The answer is document management. Join Comalatech's Marketing Manager, Mike Rink, as he talks about using best practices in Confluence along with Comala Document Management to take control of the chaos.

Question: Triggering Jira from Confluence/Comala Document Management and vice versa?

In regards to the question about using a trigger in Confluence/Comala Document Management to create a Jira issue, that is available via a Scriptrunner script. This Adaptavist blog talks about it generally, https://scriptrunner.adaptavist.com/latest/confluence/recipes/comala-workflows.html. Essentially, the script is listening for the final approval event, and when that happens it creates a Jira issue. The question was actually the reverse - can a Jira issue trigger a Document Management action. This is not available, but is an interesting use case. For it to work, we would likely need to lean on scripting again as we aren’t working on anything like that at the moment.
