Presenter: José León

Director of Engineering at Sistel S.L since 2016 and former Director of Engineering and Branch Manager at Embarcadero Technologies between 2010 and 2016. Specialized in IDEs, software development tools, after the Embarcadero phase, in which I was involved in the development of RAD Studio (RAD development for Delphi and C++), I started to be more involved with Atlassian products, specially with JIRA at Sistel. We performed a lot of integrations for companies that were using JIRA for all sorts of things, and in many cases, not related with software development. So mixing all my previous experience in software development tools and in JIRA, I came up with the idea to get the best of both worlds and provide an IDE-like environment, inside JIRA, to develop and maintain business processes.

Business Process Studio for JIRA - Easily implement and maintain any process in JIRA

Business Process Studio for JIRA is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that allows you to easily design, implement and deploy your processes in JIRA. It lowers the learning curve of JIRA administration by providing an easy-to-use interface for many administrative features, like creating Issue Types, Custom Fields or even Workflows.

With Business Process Studio for JIRA you can digitally transform your company by implementing your processes in JIRA and get rid of Excel spreadsheets, mailing lists, shared folders, etc. It has been designed so you don't need to learn JIRA Administration to do complex tasks.

What is a process?

The definition of "business process" in Wikipedia, is as follows:

"A business process or business method is a collection of related, structured activities or tasks by people or equipment that in a specific sequence produces a service or product (serves a particular business goal) for a particular customer or customers. Business processes occur in all organizational level and it may or may not be visible to customers. A business process may often be visualized (modelled) as a flowchart of a sequence of activities with interleaving decision points or as a process matrix of a sequence of activities with relevant rules based on data in the process. The benefits of using business processes include improved customer satisfaction and improved agility for reacting to rapid market change. Process-oriented organizations break down the barriers of structural departments and try to avoid functional silos"

In JIRA, there is no such thing as a process, that is, there are many entities like Issue Types, Workflows, Fields, etc, that allows you to implement a process, but they are separate entities that you must relate between each other. Actually, in that separation is where lays the true power of JIRA, as you can do almost anything you want. But that power comes with a price, the learning curve is quite high. So we have created a tool to make it very easy to do complex administrative tasks, like creating and managing a process. Most importantly, the user experience has been implemented carefully to be logical from a process-oriented perspective.

With Business Process Studio you will be able to model a process, add fields, set their properties, design screens, add events and deploy it to a project in minutes.

In short, with Business Process Studio you will be able to do amazing things with JIRA even if you don't know JIRA administration at all.
